6:09 am on 28 March 2011

The Crusaders have beaten the Sharks 44-28 in their Super Rugby clash in London.

The Crusaders scored 4 first half tries to lead 34-18 at the break, however the South Africans took control for the next 20 minutes to close the gap to 9 points before the home-side sealed the match.

Sean Maitland scored two tries with one each to Dan Carter, Israel Dagg and Zac Guildford... the Sharks scored 4 tries.

The bonus point win moves the red and blacks to the top of the New Zealand conference, just ahead of the Blues, and equal with the Queensland Reds at the top of the overall competition standings.

The Crusaders have a bye next week which couldn't come at a better time for Todd Blackadders side who played the last ten minutes of the match with just 14 men after picking up a number of injuries including to first five Dan Carter and captain Kieran Read, which used up all of their replacements.
