The former Wellington and Hurricanes Fairbrother is leaving the Western Force at the end of the super rugby season to join Harlequins in London.

Fairbrother moved to Perth in 2009 after 58 games for the Hurricanes.

Although he was born in New Zealand, Fairbrother was eligible to play for the Wallabies but despite taking part in a number of Australian scrum sessions he was overlooked.

The tighthead prop says the coaches were looking for something different in their front row and he can can head to England happy in the knowledge he gave it his best crack.
