The New Zealand rally driver Hayden Paddon has won the production car category at Rally Portugal by the biggest ever margin in the WRC feeder series.

Paddon and co-driver John Kennard finished 7 minutes, 39.3 seconds ahead of Finland's Jukka Ketomaki on debut in their Subaru.

They were also11th over all in the Rally which Sebastian Ogier won from Citorn team-mate Sebastian Loeb.

The 23-year-old from Geraldine finished third in the Production Car WRC last season and aims to win the title with his newly-formed New Zealand World Rally Team.

He's second on the P-WRC table behind the Czech driver Martin Semerad, who won the first round in Sweden.

Paddon and Kennard return to New Zealand to run another Subaru STI in the opening round of the New Zealand Championship in Otago, starting on April 9.
