The Canterbury Tactix celebrated their return to their home court by scoring their first win of the trans-Tasman netball season with a 49-44 win over the Southern Steel.
The Tactix were behind at half-time, but surged to the lead in the third quarter and held on to end their winless run of 18 matches.
More than 5,000 Cantabrians turned out at CSB Arena for the Tactix' first match at home since the February 22nd earthquake.
The injection of youngster Jo Trip at goal defence coincided with a rejuvenated Tactix, who started the second half with more spark on defence and more urgency and penetration on attack.
The Tactix have another game at home on Sunday against Adelaide.
