Black Caps want to keep Allan Donald

12:36 pm on 2 April 2011

The first Black Caps are back from the World Cup and the veteran allrounder Jacob Oram says they have some advice for New Zealand Cricket: retain the services of pace bowling coach Allan Donald.

Oram and coach John Wright returned on Friday afternoon with some of the team after their loss to Sri Lanka in the first semi-final.

They weren't expected to make the last four and Oram says Wright, Donald and the other support staff can take a massive amount of credit for that.

Donald's returned to South Africa but New Zealand Cricket's negotiating with him and Oram expects the senior players to be asked for their views.

He says it'd be wise to listen to the players, which happens anyway, as it's vital to keep the coaches.
