Breakers end regular season with a win

The New Zealand Breakers have finished their best regular season in the Australian National Basketball League with an 87-74 win over the Tigers in Melbourne.

The final game of the NBL Championship regular season saw the Breakers win every quarter to wrap up the minor premiership with a 78.57 winning percentage, ending with 22 wins and six losses to easily eclipse their previous best effort back in 2009, an 18-12 win-loss ratio and third place.

The Breakers now face the fourth-placed Perth Wildcats in the semi-final series, starting in Auckland on Thursday.

The third-placed Cairns Taipans face the second-placed Townsville Crocodiles in the other playoff series for a place in the grand final.
