The United States based Hayley Palmer performance in the 50m freestyle final last night at the national swim champs suggests she's on course for another world championship qualifying time.
The 21 year old who's now based in Florida narrowly missed out on direct qualification but her time has given her plenty of encouragement ahead of the 100m freestyle, which is her main aim.
None of the swimmers in last night's finals added to the seven qualifying times already posted for the world champs in Shanghai later this year.
Carl O'Donnell defended his 100m freestyle title, Mitchell Donaldson won the men's 200m individual medley.
While Sophia Batchelor had a nervous wait to be confirmed as the winner of the 50m backstroke when her touch pad failed to register her time.
