Breakers respect defending champions going into playoffs

10:16 am on 7 April 2011

The New Zealand Breakers go into tonight's Australian National Basketball League semi-final series opener having won 22 of their 28 games this season while the defending champions Perth qualified fourth.

The Wildcats' win-loss record is 16-12 this season but they've won five titles and made the finals 25 times while it's only the fourth time the Breakers have made the post-season.

Coach Andrej Lemanis says the minor premiers aren't short of finals experience though with the likes of CJ Bruton, Dillon Boucher, Mika Vukona, and Kevin Braswell to call on.

Tip off's half an hour earlier than usual at seven o'clock. Game two's in Perth on Sunday afternoon..
