The New Zealand Warriors rugby league club has confirmed Kevin Locke is the player who is to be interviewed by police investigating a sexual assault complaint which he strenuously denies.
Locke's lawyer John Haigh QC told the club Locke wanted his name to be published to avoid speculation.
He says the 22-year-old winger also wanted to make it clear he had done nothing wrong, no charges had been laid and he is co-operating fully with police.
The club will respect the police process and will not be making any further comment.
