Breakers will be desperate, says Perth coach

The Perth Wildcats have had what they're calling "a free hit" but now they're wary of a "desperate" New Zealand Breakers as the defending Australian basketball champions look to wrap up a second straight grand finals berth over the minor premiers on Sunday.

The Wildcats stunned the top-ranked Breakers 101-78 in Auckland on Thursday and to add to the New Zealand side's woes, forward Mika Vukona is unlikely to play any further part in the series after damaging ligaments in his knee in the loss to Perth.

Despite all signs pointing to a Wildcats win, coach Rob Beveridge says his team must remain wary of a Breakers unit that took it all before them during the regular season on the way to a 22-6 record.

Beveridge says now they really have to go to a different level because the Breakers have too many class players in their team to put in two poor showings and it's a desperate time for them right now.
