McIlroy will overcome Augusta heartbreak

Rory McIlroy says he's been overwhelmed by the messages of sympathy and support showered upon him after his final round meltdown at the Masters golf tournament.

The 21-year-old from Northern Ireland took a four-stroke lead into the final round having led for the first three days, but he ended up tied for 15th after a closing round of 80.

Many of his peers and golf commentators remain convinced that he's a future world number one, and the European Tour's chief executive George O'Grady believes he has the potential to be as inspirational a figure in the game as Tiger Woods.

McIlroy didn't shirk a single question at his post round media conference, openly admitting he didn't handle the pressure, but would eventually emerge stronger for the experience.
