McIlroy two shots clear at rain-hit Malaysian Open

Northern Ireland golf star Rory McIlroy landed the only birdie of a truncated third round to move two shots clear of the chasing pack at the Malaysian Open.

McIlroy leads on 12 under through nine holes ahead of France's Gregory Bourdy, who's tied for second with overnight joint leader Alexander Noren of Sweden through eight holes and Italian teenager Matteo Manassero, through nine.

New Zealand's Danny Lee is five shots back through 10 holes.

A weather disruption lasting almost three and a half hours, to go with the two and a half hours already lost on the first day to lightning, meant the third round only got underway in mid-afternoon at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.
