McLaren's Lewis Hamilton has ended the world champion Sebastian Vettel's triumphant start to the 2011 season on Sunday with a spectacular win in the Chinese Grand Prix.

And Red Bull's Australian driver Mark Webber answered his critics, storming from 18th on the grid to grab third behind his teammate with Jenson Button fourth in the other McLaren.

Hamilton, the 2008 world champion, says the win's up there with Silverstone and Monaco in 2008 and he couldn't be happier and heaped praise on his team after the thrilling win in Shanghai.

Vettel's bid for a fifth win in a row was thwarted by McLaren and a two stop strategy when three proved the quicker option, with Hamilton racing past the Red Bull driver with five laps remaining.

It's Hamilton's 15th Formula One career win and brought Vettel's recent winning streak to an end.

After opening season wins in Australia and Malaysia, Vettel still leads the championship on 68 points, 21 ahead of Hamilton on 47, with Button third on 38 and Webber fourth on 37.
