The Ford driver Shane Van Gisbergen has become the first New Zealander to win the the Hamilton V8 Supercar race with the 21-year-old climbing from fourth on the grid to take the title ahead of Australian's Lee Holdsworth and Garth Tander in an incident packed race on Sunday afternoon.
Van Gisbergen dodged several pile ups on the damp but drying Hamilton street circuit and held his nerve under pressure from Holdsworth to claim his maiden V8 Supercar title.
