NRL boss concerned about Carney's mental state

9:09 am on 20 April 2011

The National Rugby League chief executive David Gallop says Todd Carney's blatant flouting of promises to get his life back on track prove just how troubled his life has become.

The Roosters have imposed an indefinite ban on Carney and hooker Anthony Watts after a weekend drinking binge after they went back on promises to abstain from alcohol.

The night out ended with Watts being charged with assaulting his former girlfriend.

Gallop warned Carney just a couple of weeks ago that he was on his last chance when he avoided a jail term for a drink drive charge but Gallop says nows not the time for the game to abandon him.
