Banned Italian to return to cycling

7:54 am on 26 April 2011

The Italian cyclist Davide Rebellin, stripped of his Olympic road race silver medal after retrospective tests showed he failed doping checks in Beijing, will make his return to the sport from a two-year ban on Thursday.

Rebellin will ride for the Spanish outfit Andalucia-Caja Granada who compete in the second-tier Continental circuit.

Rebellin, who lost his appeal against the ban last July, is set to compete in this week's Tour of Asturias.
