Mystics defender Kayla Cullen nominated again

The Northern Mystics defender Kayla Cullen is the fourth nominee for the trans-Tasman netball championship's Best Young Player Award.

It's the second year running the 19-year-old's been nominated for the award.

She still meets the criteria as she played only five games last season.

This year she's played all 12 and has been a key contributor to the Mystics' eight wins to date.

The Mystics play the Southern Steel in Invercargill on Sunday night and iIf they win they'll make the Finals Series for the first time.

The other nominees are Ashleigh Brazill (NSW Swifts), Chelsea Pitman (Queensland Firebirds) and Sulu Tone-Fitzpatrick (Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic).

The fifth will be announced during Round 12 with the winner announced during Grand Final week in May.
