Brumbies announce White as new coach

7:03 pm on 27 April 2011

The former Springboks mentor Jake White will coach the ACT Brumbies for four Super Rugby seasons from 2012.

White, who won the 2007 World Cup with South Africa, will take over from Tony Rea at the end of the current campaign.

Rea has been in the position since Andy Friend was sacked just two rounds into this year's competition.

The Brumbies are third on the five-team Australian conference ladder and 10th overall with just two wins from eight matches in 2011.

White's first battle will be trying to retain Rocky Elsom with the NSW Waratahs reportedly interested in bringing the Wallabies skipper back to Sydney next year.
