Mystics in confident mood after reaching semi-finals

7:20 am on 2 May 2011

The Northern Mystics will play in the trans-tasman netball competition semi-finals for the first time after beating the Southern Steel 47-35 last night and coach Debbie Fuller believes the Auckland based side have the fire-power to make an impact in the post season.

The Mystics had to win in Invercargill to cement their place in the playoffs after the NSW Swifts sealed their final four berth with yesterday's win over the Melbourne Vixens.

The fourth placed Mystics will now likely face the Swifts in the minor semi-final in Sydney next Monday, and Fuller says they're full of confidence despite the poor results New Zealand sides have historically had in Australia.

The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic are already guaranteed their place in the final four but can claim second spot and set up a major semi-final against the unbeaten Queensland Firebirds if they beat the lowly Central Pulse in Taupo tonight.
