Sir Alex blames the ref...again

Sir Alex Ferguson insists Manchester United paid the price for a refereeing error in the 1-nil loss at Arsenal as United stumbled with the English Premier League football title within their grasp.

Ferguson believes his side should have been awarded a penalty late in the game for a challenge on Michael Owen, although he acknowledges Arsenal had a good claim for a penalty turned down also.

Second-placed Chelsea trail United by just three points and a win at Old Trafford next Monday will make them favourites to retain the title with only two games to play after next weekend.

Manchester City strengthened their grip on the fourth Champions League spot with a 2-1 win over bottom-of-the-table West Ham.

Wolverhampton Wanderers remain in the relegation zone despite a one all draw with Birmingham, while Liverpool enjoyed three nil win over Newcastle.

Celtic has moved to within one point of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premier League with a 4-1 win over Dundee United.
