South Australian Cricket members to vote on ground upgrade

5:53 pm on 2 May 2011

South Australian cricket members will vote tonight on the proposed 726 million dollar redevelopment of Adelaide Oval.

Some 19 and a half thousand members of the South Australian Cricket Association will say if the redevelopment will proceed, allowing AFL matches to return to the inner city venue.

Adelaide and Port Adelaide clubs have endorsed a ground sharing arrangement with cricket.

But only 25 per cent of SACA members need to vote no tonight to block the state government-funded proposal.

SACA hierarchy want their members to vote for the proposal, which includes wiping the cricket body's 115 million dollar debt and increasing the ground's capacity from the current 36 thousand to 50 thousand.
