New Zealand Football has announced a record seven point seven million dollar surplus, the bulk of which came from prizemoney won by the All Whites at last year's World Cup in South Africa.

Without the prize money chairman Frank van Hattum says the organisation would have had a $756 thousand surplus.

It's the third year in a row New Zealand Football's recorded a surplus, after four years of deficits from 2004 to 2007.

Van Hattum says the surplus has already been invested in programmes such at the Whole of Football Plan which is in the first year of a six year rollout.

He says the New Zealand Football Foundation was also established and given $4 million to support grassroots initiatives and also attract new funds to the sport.

The organisation also repaid a one and a half million dollar loan it had taken out in the years in record a deficit.
