NZ and Australia to play behind closed doors

6:08 am on 6 May 2011

The New Zealand women's football team's world cup warmup match against Australia next week will be off limits to the public.

The Football Ferns will play two matches against Australia, both in Gosford ahead of next month's World Cup in Germany.

The first game is next Thursday but Football Australia is only selling tickets to tickets to the second match the following Sunday.

It is believed the decision comes down to cost cutting, with matches open to the public attracting expenses in areas including ticketing, security and catering.
