FA delays QPR verdict

The Queens Park Rangers football club must wait to discover if their promotion to the English Premier League has been confirmed after a tribunal hearing verdict expected today was delayed.

The West London club were confirmed as the on-field winners of the second-tier Championship on the weekend but face the prospect of a points deduction that could drop them out of the top two automatic promotion places and into the playoffs.

QPR face a number of disciplinary charges over the signing of Argentinian midfielder Alejandro Faurlin in 2009, including allegedly submitting false information in documents provided to the Football Association relating to a contract extension signed by Faurlin in October.

The FA's statement created further uncertainty, not just for QPR but for those clubs in and around the playoff positions, with the final round of regular season Championship league matches due to take place on Sunday.
