Magic claim home court advantage on the Gold Coast

The Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic are claiming home court advantage - even though they're playing the Queensland Firebirds on the Gold Coast in the major semi final of the trans Tasman netball competition tonight.

The unbeaten Firebirds have been forced to shift the match to the Gold Coast because a Truck show is on at the Brisbane Convention Centre.

Magic captain Casey Williams believes with a strong New Zealand population on the Gold Coast will play into their hands.

The Firebirds beat the Magic by four goals in round robin play, but Williams is hoping the same fate will befall them as did the New South Wales Swifts last year when they went unbeaten during pool play only to lose both play off games and fail to make the final.

The loser of tonights match will play the Northern Mystics in the preliminary final next week.
