Stage four on cycling's Giro D'Italia is unlikely to count towards the overall tour result as the riders are planning a tribute tonight for the 26 year old Belgian Wouter Weylandt, who crashed and died last night.
Weylandt fractured his skull when he crashed about 20 metres down a bank during a steep descent, and doctors couldn't revive him.
Traditionally after a death in a race, a minute's silence is held at the start of the following day, the peloton will tackle the stage at a slow pace, and the deceased rider's team mates come to the front of the bunch for the final kilometre.
Tour organisers had already made plans for a tribute on stage eight, in memory of the victims of a mass accident last December when seven amateur cyclists were killed by a car.
