The Leopard-Trek cycling team has decided to withdraw from the Giro d'Italia following the death yesterday of a team member Wouter Weylandt.
26 year old Weylandt died instantly when he crashed and fell down a 20 metre bank as the field negotiated a steep, tricky descent.
The field rode a leisurely "stage of respect" for Weylandt last night, which didn't count towards the overall tour results.
