The Hurricanes have received a timely boost as they look to climb off the bottom of the New Zealand Super Rugby conference with All Blacks Ma'a Nonu and Piri Weepu both named in Canes side to face the Highlanders in Invercargill on Friday night.

Nonu missed the last two matches after fracturing his eye socket while Weepu makes his long awaited return from a broken leg suffered in last years national provincial championship.

Weepu's on the bench while Nonu will start, and the second five is champing at the bit to help out his struggling team.

Nonu and Weepu are the only changes to the Hurricanes side that lost to the Blues last weekend.

Meanwhile the injury decimated Crusaders will welcome back All Blacks Dan Carter and Richie McCaw for their clash with the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Sunday morning.

Carter returns from a hamstring injury while McCaw's recovered from a concussion.
