The New Zealand men's hockey team can make the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup final in Malaysia tonight but only if the Black Sticks beat Australia for the first time in 12 years and other results go their way.
After two losses and a draw the understrength Black Sticks beat Malaysia then thrashed India 7-3.
Coach Shane McLeod says Australia's also missing several key players and that should make for a closer contest with the world champions.
