The former world tennis number one Maria Sharapova has warned up in style for the French Open by cruising to her first title in more than a year with a 6-2 6-4 win over Australia's Samantha Stosur at the Italian Open.
An out of sorts Stosur had no answer to Sharapova's range of shots which gave the Russian her 23rd career title.
Sharapova needs the French Open title to complete a career grand slam.
