Smail drops off lead in Japan early in second round

The Hamilton golfer David Smail has slipped three shots off the lead early on his second round of the latest tournament on the Japan tour.

Smail shot an opening round eight under par 64 at the Totoumi Hamamatsu Open, to be in a four way share of the lead.

However he's dropped three shots on his first four holes of the second round to be tied for 20th, level with Auckland golfer Richard Lee who shot a five under par opening round of 67.

Lee is yet to begin his second round.
