Does Carter's decision leave Brett at the crossroads?

Dan Carter's decision to stay in New Zealand for another 4 years could have an impact on those number tens that are contemplating their future in the game.

There is little doubt that Carter will own the All Black first five spot for a number of years to come, so will that see others head overseas.

The Blues pivot Stephen Brett is probably at a cross-roads in his career, and he's having mixed performances in this year's Super Rugby competition.

But Blues coach Pat Lam insists he's got a lot of faith in Brett, who'll be tested again against the Stormers, though Lam says like just about every player, the Canterbury product can improve.

The Blues can all but book a playoff place with a win over the top South African team the Stormers on Friday night at Eden Park.
