Marshall magic sparks struggling Tigers

Benji Marshall inspired his lacklustre Wests Tigers side to a 20-18 victory over Penrith in the National Rugby League, the Kiwis captain scoring a match-turning 85-metre try to kick his stuttering Tigers into action.

In one of the more unlikely NRL escapes at Campbelltown Stadium, the star five-eighth was again at the centre of the comeback.

With the Tigers trailing 18-10 with less than 15 minutes on the clock, Marshall jumped on an error from the Panthers winger Simmons and managed to tip-toe down the sideline before evading the clutches of Lachlan Coote to score, then converted to reduced Penrith's lead to two points.

Then Robbie Farah found Mitch Brown in the 72nd minute for the match-winning try.

It was the Tigers' fifth win of the season and cements their spot in the top eight.
