Cipriani wants to go home

The controversial first five Danny Cipriani wants out of his Melbourne Rebels contract to return to England to play for Bath.

The 23-year-old has a year left to run on his Super Rugby deal, but a series of off-field issues have cast doubt over his future.

He is currently serving an internal suspension for breaching a curfew.

Bath says they have been in touch with Cipriani's representatives.

Bath are one of the few top Premiership clubs that could take Cipriani as they are still to replace stand-off Butch James, who has returned to his native South Africa.

Bath had been linked to Dan Carter before he confirmed this week that he's staying in New Zealand for the next four years.
