The young New Zealand racing driver Mitch Evans has taken his first European win with victory in the GP3 race at the Spanish Grand Prix meeting in Barcelona.

The 16-year-old was starting in only his second European event, having debuted at the Turkish Grand Prix.

Evans is the youngest ever winner in the International GP3 series. He won from pole to flag, beating an International field of 30 drivers.

He's managed and mentored by Mark Webber, the Australian Formula One driver who will start from pole position for tonight's Spanish Grand Prix.
