Mason picked for Barbarians

The former Australian rugby league star Willie Mason is poised to make his rugby union debut this weekend after being named in the Barbarians squad to face England at Twickenham.

Mason, who appeared for Hull KR this season, has signed a lucrative deal with the French club Toulon.

Mason, who has experienced disciplinary issues throughout his career, played 24 times for Australia between 2002 and 2008 but has yet to make his first union appearance.

He played six times for Hull KR before his failure to obtain a Tongan passport led to him being de-registered.

Mason has been named as a back in te Barbarians squad that also includes New Zealanders, Carl Hayman, Paul Tito and Doug Howlett are the New Zealanders in the Barbarians squad.
