Lockyer hails Queensland belief

Queensland champion Darren Lockyer has hailed his side's belief after celebrating his record-equalling State of Origin appearance by laying on a late match-winning try in a 16-12 victory over New South Wales.

Lockyer. who joined Maroons great Allan Langer on an all-time high 34 Origin games, says they all believed they had plenty of time to score, giving coach Mal Meninga the most wins for a Queensland coach with 12, bettering Arthur Beetson and Wayne Bennett.

Tthe Blues have not recovered a 1-0 deficit from since they last won a series under Ricky Stuart in 2005.

The new Blues boss praised his side's courage, calculating they had faced an extra 15 sets of six in defence.
