The Manawatu Jets upset the Hawkes Bay Hawks 84-74 in their National Basketball League clash in Taradale on Friday night.

The Hawks, who were the only undefeated team left, couldn't find any offensive rhythm managing only 74 points, shooting 38 percent from the field compared to the Jets' 50 percent.

The Jets now move up to fourth position, ahead of the Southland Sharks, who suffered an 87-81 home loss to the Waikato Pistons, with the Hamilton-based side creeping into a top two position with their fifth straight win.

In New Plymouth the Taranaki Mountain Airs overcame an 18-point deficit to claim a 101-99 win on the buzzer over the Auckland Pirates.
