Herbert to try new players against Mexico

1:26 pm on 1 June 2011

The All Whites coach Ricki Herbert says he's likely to try a few new players in the football international against Mexico in Denver on Thursday.

Unbeaten in their last six matches, the match against New Zealand is the last for Mexico as they begin the defence of their North and Central American title and start qualification for the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil.

The All Whites qualification matches of the Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup in Brazil, don't begin until next year with Herbert in the early stages of building his 2014 squad.

Mexico will be without Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez for the match.

The All Whites then play Australia in Adelaide on Sunday.
