McAlister to start at number 10

4:25 pm on 2 June 2011

World Cup hopeful Luke McAlister has reclaimed the Blues first five jersey for their Super Rugby clash against the Chiefs at Eden Park on Saturday night.

Coach Pat Lam has made several changes to the team to face their southern neighbours with captain and hooker Keven Mealamu making way for Tom McCartney, who played prop in the home loss to the Stormers two weeks ago.

After having the bye last week and being rested from training, Mealamu drops to the bench with flanker Jerome Kaino picking up the captaincy duties.

Luke McAlister will start at number 10 with second five Benson Stanley returning to the side after concussion benched him for the last Blues match.

Prop Charlie Faumuina is welcomed back into the mix after several weeks off with a hamstring injury.
