Reds counting wounded after tough weekend

Queensland have suffered a major double blow to their Super Rugby title hopes with backs Anthony Faingaa and Ben Lucas both uncertain to play again this season.

Centre Faingaa sustained a grade two hamstring strain late in the Reds 22-14 loss to the Brumbies at Suncorp Stadium and is expected to be sidelined for at least a month.

With two regular season rounds left before the play-offs, Faingaa could only hope to make it back for the tournament decider on July the 9th at best if the Reds qualify.

Fullback Lucas is also battling to return for the finals after badly injuring his knee in the dying stages.

In a brutal local derby, Wallabies winger Digby Ioane was knocked out cold early in the second half by Brumbies No.8 Ita Vaea but has been cleared of facial injuries.

He was sent to hospital with concussion and will miss the Reds penultimate match against the Western Force in Perth on Saturday night and possibly the final-round clash against the Chiefs in Hamilton.

Meanwhile, Vaea has received a one-week suspension for his dangerous tackle on Ioane after a SANZAR judicial hearing on Sunday morning in Brisbane.
