Broken collarbone won't keep Edwards from racing

The Texan MotoGP rider Colin Edwards has refused to let a broken collarbone rule him out of next Monday's British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Edwards had been all set to start the Catalunya Grand Prix in Spain on Monday, just two days after he had a titanium plate and 13 screws inserted into the right collarbone he broke in Friday practice, but failed to pass the pre-race medical.

Edwards, a former superbike world champion, had not missed a race in his MotoGP career before the weekend and says he intended to start in Barcelona and do a couple of laps before pulling in.
