Chinese tennis star Li Na's French Open title has lifted her to a career-high fourth in the world rankings.

Li became the first player from China and the first from Asia to win a grand slam title after beating defending champion Italian Francesca Schiavone in the women's final.

Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki remained the world No.1 despite losing in the third round in Paris.

With significant ranking points to defend after finishing runner-up at Roland Garros last year Australian Sam Stosur slipped from No.6 to No.10 in the world after her third round exit.
