The Sri Lankan cricket selectors have recalled the elder statesman of their game Sanath Jayasuriya for upcoming limited overs series against England, Ireland and Scotland.

Jayasuriya, who turns 42 at the end of this month, is the oldest player in international cricket, and he ended his test career in 2007.

Within hours of his recall, Jayasuriya said he would play the first Twenty20 match against England on the 25th of this month, and the first one day three days later at the Oval, then retire for good.

Jayasuriya was elected as a member of parliament last year for Sri Lanka's ruling party.
