Heavy rain interrupts Canadian Grand Prix

6:03 am on 13 June 2011

Heavy rain has stopped the Canadian formula one Grand Prix 25 laps into the 70-lap race in Montreal.

The race was affected by a wet track from the outset, and one of the early casualties was Lewis Hamilton whose bid for a Canadian Grand Prix hat-trick ended after just eight laps when he collided attempting to pass his McLaren team mate Jenson Button and was squeezed into the wall.

The safety car had already been deployed before that incident.

The pole sitter Sebastian Vettel is the race leader as they mark time in the pits.
