Record crowd at Vector as Silver Ferns square series

A record crowd for a New Zealand netball game watched tonight as the Silver Ferns squared their Test series against Australia, the home side winning by 45 points to 42 in Auckland.

Eight thousand three hundred people were at Vector Arena as New Zealand took the lead with a big second quarter, outscoring the Australians by 6 points to head into half-time ahead by 24 to 20.

But the visitors came back and there was nothing to separate the two teams until an intercept by the Ferns captain Casey Williams late in the fourth quarter turned the match.

Australia retained the Constellation Cup after taking out the first Test in Palmerston North on Thursday.

Tonight's game was the final workout against international opposition for both teams before next month's world championships in Singapore.
