Alternate travel plans have been arranged for the Highlanders and Crusaders to get to their respective Super Rugby matches this weekend.

The Highlanders have been grounded in Dunedin because of the volcanic ash, but flew to Auckland on a chartered flight for tonight's match against the Blues.

The Crusaders flew to Wellington on a private DC3 leaving Christchurch this morning. They play the Hurricanes at Westpac Stadium on Saturday night.

The Queensland Reds left for Auckland this morning en-route to Hamilton for their match against the Chiefs on Saturday.
