The International Olympic committee is backing the British government's ban on Colonel Moammar Gaddafi

and other members of the Libyan regime, from the next year's London Olympics.

The British government says Libyan officials are subject to a European Union travel ban and therefore can't enter the United Kingdom.

The Libyan National Olympic Committee has been allocated a few hundred tickets for the event and are responsible for distributing them to sports organisations and athletes.

However the IOC president Jacque Rogge says they have no intention of handing over the tickets to Libyan Olympic officials while the situation is the country remains unstable.

Tickets have also been allocated to Zimbabwe and Myanmar.
