Venus Williams' comeback at the Eastbourne grasscourt tennis tournament in the south of England has ended with her loss in the quarter-finals to Daniela Hantuchova.
The Slovak chalked up her first win over Williams in 11 career meetings, advancing to the semi-finals with a 6-2 5-7 6-2 win which cut short the American's comeback before she starts her bid for a sixth Wimbledon singles title next week.
However Venus remains in a positive mood, saying it was good to get some great competition in, she feels good and is glad to have a couple of days to prepare for Wimbledon.
Meanwhile Australian Sam Stosur beat top seed Vera Zvonareva and she'll meet Marion Bartoli in the semi-finals, while Hantuchova will play Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic.
