The New Zealand women's hockey team won their final practice game 2-nil against China last night in the Netherlands.

Canterbury based player Sophie Devine scored both goals with two successful drag flick shots from penalty corners.

Black Sticks coach Mark Hager says it was an improvement on their first two games against China, but they're going to have to step it up to another level when the Champions Trophy starts next weekend.

The Black Sticks are ranked seventh out of the eight teams at Champions Trophy and Hager says their aim is to be in the top six.
